The government did not ask foreign diplomats accredited to the Republic of Cyprus not to attend the briefing by the Turkish Cypriot negotiator, Mehmet Dana, according to information obtained by CNA.
Regarding reports of efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus to prevent the presence of foreign diplomats at the briefing by Mr. Dana regarding the Turkish Cypriot side’s positions on the Cyprus issue, sources stated that foreign diplomats were never asked not to attend.

It was noted that briefings by the Turkish Cypriot side take place without any interference from the government, but that in this particular case, letterhead bearing the symbols of the pseudo-state was used, and that foreign diplomats were advised to exercise caution.
It was also mentioned that foreign diplomats informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that they had received this letter bearing the symbols of the pseudo-state, and that they were told, as is conveyed to anyone, to be cautious so that there are no symbols and no indirect exploitation of this specific meeting.
According to media reports, Mr. Dana briefed foreign diplomats on August 19.
