In condemnation of the illegal visit by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz to the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus, which is taking place on the occasion of the tragic anniversary of the Turkish invasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Monday afternoon.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the Turkish Vice President’s renewed presence in the occupied areas underscores and simultaneously constitutes yet another expression of acknowledgment of responsibility for the ongoing Turkish occupation and the violations, for the past 52 years, of the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus—"violations that have consistently and repeatedly condemned by the relevant resolutions of the United Nations (UN) Security Council and by the international community, including the European Union (EU)”.

“We remain committed to the ultimate goal of the liberation and reunification of Cyprus, based on the agreed United Nations framework, through a sustainable solution that complies with international law and ensures the rights and well-being of all Cypriots,” the statement concludes.
