Negotiations between Cyprus and Israel to reach an agreement on the joint natural gas field located between the Cypriot field “Aphrodite” and the Israeli “Isaï,” as Minister of Energy, Trade, and Industry Michalis Damianos told CNA.
“Meetings will take place during the first half of October with the aim of finalizing the agreement before the end of October,” he said.
The discussions, which are taking place at the technical level, involve technical experts from both countries and their legal advisors, along with the operating companies of the two gas fields.
The disagreement between the two countries stems from the fact that the natural gas reservoir in the “Aphrodite” offshore block geologically overlaps with the “Isai” field in the Israeli EEZ. The operator of “Aphrodite,” located in Block 12 of the Cypriot EEZ, is the American company Chevron.
