The reports by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on his Good Offices for Cyprus and UNFICYP are expected to be submitted in early July 2026, ahead of the Security Council’s closed-door consultations on the afternoon of July 16, according to information from CNA.
In the meantime, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Kassim Dian, is expected to brief Council members during the consultations on UNFICYP, with the discussion focusing on the UN Secretary-General’s report.
The Cyprus issue will be examined over the course of a month as part of a broad agenda for the Security Council, which also includes meetings on Sudan, the “Women, Peace, and Security,” UNOWAS, Colombia, Haiti, the Middle East, Syria, UNRCCA, and other issues.
