The great singer Mary Linda has “passed away” at the age of 91.

In the final years of her life, Mary Linda resided at the Athens Nursing Home, and the news of her death was announced by Spyros Sigouros in a post on his Instagram profile.

With a career spanning decades, the great singer left an indelible mark on Greek folk music, performing hits that were loved by generations of listeners.

The post reads:

A summer marked by the loss of our loved ones. Mary Linda passed away early this morning… casting a shadow of sorrow over the artistic community…. The great First Lady of Greek song, who inspired many younger singers, is no longer with us… she spent her final years at the Athens nursing home. Always dignified and smiling… we’ll remember her alongside Manolis Chiotis… “My past loves, so many sunsets…”
