The Rialto Theater presents EXPLICIT, a new three-day film tribute to be held from September 7 to 9, 2026, aiming to reexamine and creatively reflect on films that challenged, questioned, and expanded the boundaries of cinematic expression.

Through works by filmmakers who are today considered landmarks in the history of world cinema, EXPLICIT explores the relationship between art, censorship, freedom of expression, and social change. It does not focus on provocation as an end in itself, but rather on the artistic and historical significance of films that dared to break new ground in the language of cinema, influencing generations of filmmakers and audiences and continuing to spark fruitful dialogue to this day.

The first edition of EXPLICIT is dedicated to Lars von Trier, one of the most important and controversial directors in contemporary European cinema. Through five of his iconic films, the audience will have the opportunity to engage with works that have challenged, outraged, moved, inspired, and captivated viewers and critics around the world.

The tribute will be accompanied by an open discussion with film professionals, covering topics such as consensus, violence, and artistic freedom, providing a framework for meaningful dialogue on issues that remain relevant today. The event is organized in collaboration with the Limassol Film Club.

Note: All screenings are strictly for individuals over the age of 18 (18+) due to the films’ content.
