Cypriot contemporary art is making a significant mark on the international scene, with artist Stella Papa representing Cyprus this year at the renowned Women in Art Biennale London 2026. The exhibition, which is one of the most dynamic platforms for showcasing women’s artistic creation worldwide, will be held from August 20 to 23, 2026, at the iconic Chelsea Old Town Hall in the heart of London.

Stella Papa was selected from among hundreds of artists to participate as the sole Cypriot and Greek representative in a global visual arts showcase, alongside 150 acclaimed female artists from more than 50 countries. Her participation is presented by Artio Art Gallery.

Stella Papa’s artistic identity, which has already earned her major awards in major European capitals (such as Milan, Venice, and New York), is characterized by a bold, innovative style. Through the harmonious coexistence of different materials, bold gestures, deliberate asymmetry, and striking color contrasts, her works capture the human psyche, telling stories that transcend local boundaries.

The London Biennale aims to amplify the female voice in the global art market and provide a platform for the unique perspectives of women artists.

Through her art, however, Stella is also making her way to Edinburgh, as she is the first and only Cypriot artist from Greece and Cyprus to be selected for the Greyfriars Edinburgh Art Fair and is a nominee for the Henry Raeburn Award.

During the Biennale, an awards ceremony will take place, which will be broadcast live by television and radio stations as well as news channels, online platforms in London.

Every day of the art event, short videos featuring each artist—as well as samples of their work—will be screened inside the building .

Renowned figures from the worlds of art and culture will provide their comments and reviews beneath each artwork.

The exhibition will take place to the soft sounds of jazz and accompanied by a glass of wine.

The works of the selected artists will be included in a collector’s book that will be distributed to galleries throughout Europe.

During the Greyfriars Edinburgh Art Fair, four of the artist’s paintings will be projected onto a giant screen and set to beloved classic songs. Through her participation, the artist gains global exposure, as this is an art event covered by radio and television in all countries across Europe, America, and Asia.

The official VIP opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, August 21, accompanied by classical performances from the Royal Academy of Music.
