The Cypriot film “Hold Onto Me” (Hold Onto Me), directed by Myrsini Aristidou, continues its impressive international run, having been selected for the official shortlist of the 2027 European Film Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in European cinema.
This significant development marks yet another special moment for the film and for Cypriot cinema, highlighting the creative dynamism and international impact of Cypriot filmmakers.
Having already made a name for itself on the international film scene—with a major milestone being its win of the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival—“Hold Onto Me” adds yet another significant accolade to its track record.
At the same time, the film has been selected as Cyprus’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards, further strengthening its international presence.
Inclusion on the European Film Awards shortlist marks the start of the next phase of the process, during which members of the European Film Academy will screen the selected films and vote to determine the official nominees.
The nominations for the 2027 European Film Awards will be announced on November 14, 2026.
This new distinction reaffirms the strong presence of “Hold Onto Me” on the international film scene and marks yet another significant step toward promoting Cypriot cinema in Europe and around the world.
