October is packed with cultural events! New productions, old favorites making a comeback, and festivals returning. Let’s take a look at some recommendations for the week of October 4–10.
Murder on the Orient Express
Following its successful run last theater season, the play “Murder on the Orient Express” returns for a second year to the THOK Main Stage, aiming to recreate the mysterious atmosphere of Agatha Christie’s classic detective novel.
Motherwitch
The Cypriot gothic film “Motherwitch” [Dodecameron], produced by Caretta Films and directed by New York Emmy Award-winning director Minos Papa, returns to the location where it was filmed, following an international run at more than 20 festivals, with screenings in Cypriot theaters at Comic Con from October 2–4 and for one week starting October 29. MOTHERWITCH will be participating in Cyprus Comic Con with its own themed booth. Visitors will be able to see authentic sets, props, and costumes from the production, discover exclusive merchandise, purchase tickets for the film’s screenings, and chat with the director and cast.
The Corridor
The new work by international choreographer Fotis Nikolaou on mourning, memory, resistance, identity, and art’s ability to transcend individual experience, premieres on Sunday, October 4 at the Nicosia International Festival following its presentation at the Athens Festival.
The Snow Queen
The Children’s Stage of the Satirical Theater presents “The Snow Queen,” inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale, adapted and directed by Eleni Anastasiou.
“The Snow Queen” meets the present day through a contemporary, colorful theatrical language, featuring original music, songs, humor, movement, and a world that transforms with the changing seasons. Every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the Satirical Theater.
Sebastian
Honored with the Performing Arts Award from the Union of Theater and Performing Arts Critics of Greece and boasting an exceptionally successful run in Athens, the theatrical performance “Sebastian,” directed by Vasilis Noulas, is coming to the Nicosia International Festival for two performances. Performances on October 6 and 7 at the Studio of the Nicosia Municipal Theater.
Brandy Sour
The Antilogos Theater presents the opening production of the 2026–2027 season, *Brandy Sour*, a theatrical adaptation of the award-winning novel of the same name by Konstantia Sotiriou, directed by Neoklis Neokleous.
From the garden of the Goethe Institute, located next to the Ledra Palace—the glamorous hotel that has welcomed celebrities, artists, politicians, rebels and soldiers, peacemakers and negotiators, it takes on the leading role it deserves.
Breach Festival 2026
The Breach Festival returns for its 5th year on October 9 & 10, 2026, in Nicosia, once again bringing free improvisation and experimental music to the forefront. For two nights, acoustic and electronic instruments, improvisation, sound research, and traditional and contemporary instruments come together in a program that moves freely between different sounds and musical worlds.
Mitsikouri
Mitsikouri is back. It is the first international performing arts festival for children and young people in Cyprus. The 2026 edition features 14 productions from 11 countries, for ages 0–18, in cities and communities throughout Cyprus, introducing young audiences to contemporary forms of theater, dance, circus, and participatory performing arts experiences.
