Festivals for books, short films, children, and performances. Another week packed with cultural events—let’s take a look at some recommendations from October 11 through 17.

The Cyprus International Short Film Festival returned to Limassol for its 16th year, from October 10 to 16, 2026. Seven days filled with exceptional short films from Cyprus and around the world, meetings with filmmakers, and unique cinematic experiences. Screenings are for individuals 18 years of age and older

Nicosia Book Fest

For the 11th year, the Nicosia Book Fest has returned to Acropolis Park. Cyprus’s annual celebration of books once again hosts authors, publishers, artists, and cultural organizations, offering the public a rich program of events and activities for all ages. Today, October 11, 2026, is the last day, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission to the Festival is free.

Mitsikouri

Mitsikouri is back. It is the first international performing arts festival for children and young people in Cyprus. The 2026 edition features 14 productions from 11 countries, for ages 0–18, in cities and communities across Cyprus, introducing young audiences to contemporary forms of theater, dance, circus, and participatory performing arts experiences.

Amalia Melancholia, the Queen of the Palms

Emily Kolliandri portrays Queen Amalia, the first queen of Greece, in a performance—an immersive experience that captivated Greek audiences, garnered rave reviews, and impressed international guests at the GRAPE section of the Athens & Epidaurus Festival. Another performance will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Nicosia Municipal Theater.

The Belly

Marina Vronti’s theatrical monologue “THE BELLY” is presented at KTIRION 53, directed by Stavros Potamaris and starring Marilia Charidimou.

The Cherry Orchard

The NEA EKFRASI Theater Workshop presents Anton Chekhov’s play *The Cherry Orchard* at the Mascarini Theater on October 13 and 14, 2026.

Starlight 1

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is collaborating for the first time with the internationally acclaimed pianist, composer, and cultural figure George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, under the baton of the world-renowned conductor Zoe Zeniodi.

The evening begins with Nestor Taylor’s *The Archangel’s Path*, an evocative elegy for strings, whose luminous timbres and contemplative character create an atmosphere of deep reflection. With the title of the work, the composer pays homage to Mikis Theodorakis’s autobiographical work *The Roads of the Archangel*. At the heart of the program is Saint-Saëns’s dazzling Piano Concerto No. 2, a masterpiece that combines poetic lyricism, splendor, and impressive virtuosity. The concert concludes with the irresistible passion, vivid colors, and theatricality of Suites Nos. 1 and 2 from Bizet’s opera *Carmen*, highlighting the unforgettable melodies and fiery spirit of one of the most beloved operas of all time.
