At first glance, the scene could easily be a still from an unreleased James Bond movie. He’s wearing a white tuxedo jacket and a black bow tie; she’s in a silver dress that looks like liquid metal; and in the background, one of the world’s most glamorous red carpets.

In reality, it was Carlos Sainz and Rebecca Donaldson, who stole the spotlight at the opening ceremony of the 83rd Venice Film Festival and at the screening of Danny Boyle’s new film, “Ink,” on Wednesday, September 2, and their appearance had an added significance: it was the couple’s first joint red-carpet appearance.
