Petros Polychronidis shared a little-known story from Giorgos Mazonakis’s childhood in Nice, as he paid tribute to the singer in a particularly touching post on his personal Instagram account.

The two had known each other long before the great success, the concert stages, and the songs that would go on to become part of the lives of millions of people. They grew up in the same apartment building in Nikaia, on Markou Botsari Street, and to the neighborhood kids, the future folk star was back then simply “Giorgos from the 4th floor.”
