One of the most eagerly anticipated moments of the 2026 MTV VMAs was undoubtedly Madonna’s return to the stage at the event. The “Queen of Pop” kicked off the big music night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, making her first live appearance at the VMAs in 23 years. The last time she had appeared on the awards show stage was in 2003, when she shared one of the most iconic performances in the event’s history with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
