Arsenal hadn't even managed a shot on goal until the 70th minute of the match, a statistic they hadn’t seen in at least three years, and that says a lot about how they performed in Nottingham and the difficulties they faced against Forest.
Even so, in one of those matches that could very easily have made a difference in the league standings—but which no one would remember for any key plays or highlights on the field— the Champions found a way and came away with the win.
The 1-0 lead came in the 80th minute from Mandueke, who had come on as a substitute and benefited from a deflection. From the left side inside the box, with a well-placed right-footed shot, the English winger secured the three points for the “Gunners.”
The home team at City Ground, even though they had suffered a major psychological blow, fought back, with Murilo’s individual effort—a right-footed shot after dribbling past Rice—going wide, and Konsa making a tremendous tackle in stoppage time to stop FOrest.
