New developments are taking shape in AEK’s transfer plans for the midfield. The Kings Kangwa situation did not unfold as AEK would have liked, despite the very attractive offer submitted to Hapoel Be’er Sheva and the player’s desire to finalize the transfer.
The Israeli team did not change its stance and fielded the international midfielder as usual in the European match against Vikingur. AEK had no intention of getting bogged down in a situation that could have caused delays and is now turning its attention to other options for the midfield, which Javier Ribalta is evaluating behind the scenes, away from the public eye.
According to the newspaper “Ora ton Sport,” AEK is already in talks regarding another midfielder, hoping to finalize a transfer as quickly as possible. Marco Nikolić’s main goal is to have at least one new midfielder by the start of the second phase of preseason training in the Netherlands, who will also be eligible to play in the Champions League playoffs.
A total of two signings are expected to bolster the midfield. The case of Kangwa is not yet definitively closed, as he is a player AEK is very keen on. It is not out of the question that he could return to the spotlight later this summer or even in January, provided that more favorable conditions arise.
Meanwhile, Robert Ljubicic is preparing to continue his career at LASK. The two clubs have agreed on a loan deal, with an option to buy next summer; all that remains are the official announcements and his move to Austria. AEK is also seeking a solution for Niklas Eliasson, preferring to sell him, though a loan deal is not entirely ruled out.
