AEK is putting its 1-1 loss to Asteras AKTOR in Tripoli and is turning its attention to Thursday’s Greek Cup match against Panserraikos in Nea Filadelfia. AEK’s goal is to get back to winning ways immediately, remain undefeated in the competition, and at the same time improve its goal difference, ahead of the difficult away league match against Volos.
Marko Nikolić is expected to make several changes to the starting lineup, aiming to give some rest to players who have been worn down by consecutive matches and provide playing time to players who have seen less action so far. Rota, Pilios, Moukoudi, Relvas, Marin, Mandalos, and Jović are among those expected to sit out, with rotation being crucial ahead of upcoming matches in Greece and Europe.

Kairinen and Zubkov are returning to the lineup; they have been left out of AEK’s plans for the last three games and are expected to see playing time again. Georgiev, Lykoiannis, Vida, and Alexiou, with Nikolić looking to keep as much of his roster active as possible and identify solutions he’ll need for the demanding schedule ahead.
For AEK, however, the goal isn’t limited to advancing or earning points in the Cup. Following their recent losses, the team needs a convincing response and a performance that will restore calm ahead of their trip to Volos. AEK wants to go into the break with two wins, knowing that immediately after returning to action, a particularly busy schedule with back-to-back matches awaits.
The second step must be taken on Sunday at Panthessaliko Stadium, where AEK will also have the support of its fans. The “yellow-and-black” club has already made tickets available for the match against Volos, with Nikolić’s team seeking an ideal combination of results in the Cup and the league to end this part of the season on a positive note before the break.
