The break is over for the AEK players, as starting today and through Sunday they will undergo a series of medical and ergometric tests, before the team departs for the Netherlands on Monday. That’s where the main phase of preseason training will take place until July 18, and after a three-day break, the team will head back to the Netherlands until August 2.
Meanwhile, Javier Ribalta’s efforts to finalize the midfielder’s transfer are reaching a climax. The deal is at a good stage, and there is optimism that it can be finalized by the end of the week. The goal, of course, is not to announce a player before the team leaves for the Netherlands, but to sign the player the team’s management has had their eye on for some time.
Beyond that, discussions are continuing regarding the contract renewal of Luka Jović, while announcements are also expected regarding that of Stavros Pilios, which is considered a done deal. As for Orbelin Pineda, his contract renewal is more complicated and will be finalized later this summer, likely after he finishes his duties with Mexico at the World Cup (he plays against England in the Round of 16 early Monday morning at 3:00 a.m.).
