A press conference was held today to review the first year of activities of AEK’s social program, AEK C.A.R.E.S. (Community • Awareness • Responsibility • Engagement • Support), as well as to present the activities planned for the new season, was held today in the conference room at AEK ARENA.
Speaking at the press conference were Andreas Pavlidis, Member of the Board of Directors of AEK LARNACA FC LTD; Paola Karapataki, on behalf of the Karapataki family; Rabea Sajrawi, Director of SLK Development, the program’s sponsor, and Christoforos Stylianou, Marketing Manager.
The conference began with a video presentation highlighting the activities and initiatives of AEK C.A.R.E.S. during its first year of operation, as well as the efforts made through partnerships and social contribution initiatives.
Andreas Pavlidis
“Dear representatives of the media, dear colleagues and friends of AEK,
Thank you for joining us today.
Last year, when we launched AEK C.A.R.E.S., I began with a quote from Nelson Mandela: “There is no greater gift than giving your time and energy to help others, without expecting anything in return.”
A year later, I believe in those words even more. You give without expecting anything in return. And yet, people give you something precious in return: their love, their gratitude, a glance, or a simple “thank you.” These moments remind us why we started this.
Last season, we stood by people affected by the wildfires and developed partnerships with organizations that do important work in our community.
In total, through AEK C.A.R.E.S., more than €100,000 was donated to organizations and institutions. This was made possible thanks to the people who participated and placed their trust in us. We have a clear responsibility to them: complete transparency regarding our revenue and the allocation of funds.
Most of our events have now become established traditions. This allows us to continue our efforts consistently and build lasting relationships.
In the coming year, we will continue to support PASYKAF, Hope for Children, and the Cyprus Autism Association, as well as other organizations with which we share the same desire to give back.
At the same time, we produced the documentary “From Ancient Kition to Modern-Day Larnaca,” as our commitment to the community must also include culture. For this reason, we partnered with “The Time Machine” from Greece, who are considered the leaders in capturing history. Larnaca possesses a treasure trove of history, and as AEK C.A.R.E.S., we have a duty to showcase it.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the organizations, partners, sponsors, volunteers, and the AEK community. Together, we have given meaning to the phrase that unites us: AEK is a family, and a family cares.
Thank you.”
Paola Karapataki
“Dear friends, members of the media,
A year ago, we launched AEK C.A.R.E.S. with a clear vision: for AEK to be even closer to the Larnaca community and to its people in need.
Today, one year later, we have seen through many initiatives and events just how much we can achieve together.
But no social program can succeed on its own. It requires partnerships with organizations and companies, volunteers, and people willing to give of themselves. And today I want to extend a special thank you to the people and organizations that support our effort to combine the power of sports with the power of social contribution.
The first year was just the beginning.
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved in our first year, but we’re even more excited about what’s to come. Our commitment to AEK C.A.R.E.S. is growing, and we’re planning even bigger initiatives, with the goal of creating lasting and meaningful impact on our community.
Because we want an AEK that isn’t just proud of what it achieves on the field.
We want an AEK that is also proud of what it contributes off the field.
And this is something we can only achieve by working together.
Because AEK is a family.
And as our family grows, so does our responsibility to give back.
Thank you.”
Rabea Sajrawi – SLK Development
“It is a great pleasure for me to be here, representing SLK, and to be part of this important partnership with AEK C.A.R.E.S.
At SLK, we firmly believe that our responsibility extends beyond the business side of things. We believe in supporting the community, creating opportunities, and standing by those who need our support the most.
That is exactly the spirit.
Soccer has the power to bring people together, build self-confidence, and, most importantly, give people a second chance and a fresh start.
We are very proud to stand alongside AEK and support these initiatives that help people rebuild their lives and take a step forward in a positive way.
We hope this is just the beginning and that, together with AEK C.A.R.E.S., we will continue initiatives that have a positive impact on society.
Because AEK is more than just a sports club. It’s a family, and a family cares.
Thank you very much.”
Christos Stylianou
“Good morning,
I’d like to discuss the initiatives we’re planning for the new season of AEK C.A.R.E.S.
Our goal is for AEK C.A.R.E.S. to continue to grow, forge new partnerships, and, above all, make a tangible contribution to society.
I’ll start with a partnership that has already begun and is particularly important to us: our collaboration with PASYKAF.
Last September, we held a major charity concert featuring Sakis Rouvas at the Patticheio Amphitheater. The net proceeds, totaling €43,601, were donated to PASYKAF to support its work.
The success of this effort showed us that such an initiative can become an annual tradition. That is why, in September 2027, we will once again organize a grand musical evening with the same charitable purpose, with the net proceeds going to PASYKAF.
We are also continuing our partnership with Hope For Children.
As part of this partnership, we will host a “Funday” to mark the United Nations Day of the Rights of the Child, as well as a major music event featuring a Greek artist, the net proceeds of which will be donated to Hope For Children.
Another important partnership is with the Pan-Cyprian Association for People with Autism.
This Christmas, we will visit the homes of people with autism, bringing gifts and a little joy to their families.
At the same time, we will invite people with autism from all associations across Cyprus to attend our team’s training sessions and visit the AEK ARENA, giving them the opportunity to get to know our team and our facilities up close.
Furthermore, AEK C.A.R.E.S. will subsidize and cover the costs of the experiential workshops organized by the Pan-Cyprian Association of People with Autism for the 2026/27.
In the new season, we are also launching a new partnership with the Larnaca Red Cross.
Together, we will organize a Funday at Metropolis Mall in Larnaca, where, through the sale of AEK merchandise as well as products from the Larnaca Red Cross, we will financially support the Association’s work and efforts.
We also want to provide practical support to the large families in our city. For this reason, all members of the Association of Large Families will receive a 50% discount on season tickets, as well as on tickets for AEK’s home games.
Another partnership that holds special social significance for us is the one with the Aris Athletic Club.
Aris competes in the rural league, and the team consists of people who are in the process of recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.
We want to help them reintegrate into society as smoothly as possible. For this reason, we provide them with the training center of our “Nikolas Theodotou” in Alyki for their practices and home games, and we also cover the costs of their athletic apparel, uniforms, training gear, and travel uniforms.
And I’d like to conclude with an initiative that’s different from the rest, but just as important to us.
AEK C.A.R.E.S. also aims to contribute to culture, leaving behind something that will remain in our city and remind future generations of Larnaca’s great history.
For this reason, we are producing a documentary titled “From Ancient Kition to Larnaca Today,” a production by the “Time Machine” team.
Through this documentary, we aim to highlight the history and evolution of our city and provide an opportunity—especially for the younger generation—to learn about the history that Larnaca carries with it.
The documentary’s premiere will take place at a special event at K Cineplex, attended by sponsors, industry figures, journalists, as well as city and state officials.
Following that, our goal is for the documentary to be broadcast on television as well as through AEK’s official social media channels.
And something we consider particularly important: our goal is for all elementary schools in the city and district of Larnaca to visit K Cineplex and watch the documentary over the course of the year.
We want the children of Larnaca to learn about the history of their city, to feel proud of it, and to understand that Larnaca is not just about the present, but a city with a rich history that is worth knowing and preserving.
Because that’s what we want AEK C.A.R.E.S. to be:
To give back to people, support the community, build partnerships, but at the same time leave a lasting legacy.
Something for the people, something for the children, and something for our city.
And because images can often speak louder than words, I’d like to present to you now the trailer for the documentary “From Ancient Kition to Larnaca Today.”
Thank you.”
Following the conclusion of Christoforos Stylianou’s presentation, the trailer for the documentary “From Ancient Kition to Modern-Day Larnaca” was screened.
