AEK’s second friendly match on Dutch soil (8:00 p.m.) against Vitesse, a game that will take place at the Sportpark Lonapark training center.
The Dutch team announced that tickets are sold out, and fans of both the Arnhem team and AEK, from the Netherlands and the surrounding areas.
Marko Nikolić will have the opportunity to experiment even more, compared to the first friendly match against De Graafschap, which ended in a 2-1 victory thanks to goals by Varga and Zubkov.
The Serbian coach will have more players at his disposal, since—barring any major surprises—Luka Jović, who did not play in the first friendly, will get some playing time, as will newcomer Christos Alexiou. It remains to be seen whether Zini will be used; he did not play against De Graafschap and, as a precaution, did not participate in Tuesday morning’s (July 13) training session either.
AEK’s opponent in today’s friendly, Vitesse, plays in the Dutch Second Division and finished last season in 15th place with 44 points.
As a reminder, AEK will remain in Apeldoorn until August 2. In the meantime, from July 19 to 22, the “Double-Headed Eagle” players will have a four-day break to rest, with the Greek champions’ first official match scheduled for August 12 (8:00 p.m.) against OFI in the Super Cup final.
