AEK is experiencing a unique 48-hour stretch in England, as the team remains on British soil and now focuses exclusively on the match against Manchester City. The “Yellow-and-Blacks” did not return to Athens after their previous match, following a specially designed schedule to minimize travel and reduce the strain on the players.
Recently, the team trained at facilities in London, while Marko Nikolić also gave his players some free time to rest. Next up is a train ride from London to Manchester and a training session at the City Football Academy facilities, ahead of the final practice session in preparation for the Champions League group stage match.
The excitement isn’t limited to the on-field action, as there’s also tremendous enthusiasm among AEK fans. The approximately 3,500 tickets allocated for AEK fans do not appear to be enough to meet the demand, with many Greeks living in the UK looking for ways to get into the stands. Ticket prices start at 35 pounds for adults and 20 pounds for minors.
AEK fans are thus expected to turn out in force in Manchester as well, for one of the biggest European nights of the season. For Nikolić and his players, however, the goal is to make the most of these days in England, to be as fresh as possible, and to prepare in every detail for the difficult challenge ahead.
