AEL continues to move forward with its transfer plans with the goal of filling the remaining roster needs ahead of the new season.
Among the positions high on the “Lions’” list is that of attacking midfielder. According to reports, one of the names seriously being considered by the team’s management is that of Alexandru Matsan, who became a free agent after leaving Panetolikos.
The 26-year-old Romanian wrapped up a busy season in the Super League, making 40 appearances and scoring six goals, serving as a key… cog in his team’s machinery under both Yiannis Anastasiou and Giorgos Petrakis. His case has been brought to the attention of the Limassol club, and they are considering him with particular interest.
His resume certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. He began his professional career at Viitorul, followed by Voluntari, and in 2021 he took the big leap across the Atlantic when Columbus Crew invested approximately 1.5 million euros to sign him. He remained in MLS for three seasons, racking up 117 appearances, seven goals, and 18 assists, and in the meantime, he also spent time on loan with Rapid Bucharest.
In early 2025, he moved to the United Arab Emirates to play for Dibba, before returning a few months later to Greece and “Titormo.”
