Panathinaikos is reportedly very close to signing Azedine Ounai, according to the popular African website Africafoot.
“According to exclusive information received by Africafoot, Azedine Ounaï is just one step away from returning to Panathinaikos. Negotiations between the various parties have progressed significantly in the last few hours, and the Moroccan international is now closer to returning to the Greek club. “Only one final step remains before the deal is finalized: the player’s medical exam,” the report states, adding:
“Barring any unforeseen circumstances during this medical examination, Ounai will return to Panathinaikos, where he already played last season. The Greek club has shown particular determination to finalize the deal and has managed to outbid other suitors for the player. This development comes after Ajax withdrew from the race, having previously reached a verbal agreement with the player before deciding not to continue negotiations. PSV Eindhoven had also re-entered the race, as Africafoot exclusively revealed, but ultimately Panathinaikos took the lead in this transfer saga. The Greek club quickly stepped up its efforts to convince the Moroccan midfielder—who was also being closely monitored by Betis— according to our sources, primarily by offering him particularly favorable financial terms. Panathinaikos was even prepared to offer him one of the highest salaries in the Greek league to secure his signature. If the medical exams go smoothly, Ounaï, who turned down a massive offer from Al-Ittihad—as exclusively revealed by Africafoot—will officially sign with Panathinaikos and continue his journey in Greece.”
