Omonia has turned its full attention to the two matches against Kairat in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, with the goal of advancing to the next round.
The first match will take place on Wednesday, July 22, at 8:00 p.m. at GSP Stadium, while the second match will be held on July 29 at 6:00 p.m. (Cyprus time) in Almaty.
At the same time, Omonia is keeping an eye on the draws scheduled for Monday, July 20. Omonia will find out who its potential opponent will be, whether it advances or is eliminated by Kairat.
The draw for the third qualifying round of the Champions League will take place at 1:00 p.m., followed at 2:00 p.m. by the draw for the third qualifying round of the Europa League, which will feature the teams eliminated from the Champions League.
Importantly for the Champions, they will be in the “strong” pot for both draws. This doesn’t mean they’ll face an easy opponent, but it increases their chances of avoiding some of the strongest teams.
Omonia’s potential opponents in the Champions League, if they beat Kairat, are:
- Shamrock (Ireland) – Ararat (Armenia)
- Kuopio (Finland) – Sabah (Azerbaijan)
- Hapoel Be'er Sheva (Israel) – Víkingur (Iceland)
- Lincoln (Gibraltar) – Mjällby (Sweden)
- Universitatea Craiova (Romania) – Levski Sofia (Bulgaria)
- Klaksvík (Faroe Islands) – Kauno Žalgiris (Lithuania)
