Sweden got off to a strong start in the Nations League, with the Scandinavians defeating Romania 2-1 in their opener, but lost Alexander Isak to injury, even though he had scored his team’s first goal.
The Swedish forward is returning immediately to the UK and to Liverpool, so that his condition can be reevaluated and he can begin treatment immediately, with the goal of being ready to step back onto the field as soon as possible and resume his competitive duties.
Here is Liverpool’s statement in full:
“Alexander Isak is returning from international duty due to a minor injury. The forward will not participate in Sweden’s three remaining matches and will now be evaluated by the club’s medical staff at the AXA Training Center.”
