Manchester City has found its… No. 2 goalkeeper, behind Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the “Citizens” announcing today (August 12) the signing of Jerónimo Rui from Marseille.
The Argentine goalkeeper signed a contract with Manchester City that runs through the summer of 2028 and is expected to fill the spot left by James Trafford, who has moved to Leeds.
Rui has previously been with the English club during the 2016–17 season, though he did not make any appearances for them.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me, and I had to seize it. When the chance comes to join Manchester City, you have to make the most of it. Everyone knows what an impressive club this is,” said the 34-year-old goalkeeper in his first statement as a City player.
