Amir Galenoi will remain Iran's head coach after the World Cup. The Asian country’s Football Federation announced the renewal of its contract with the coach who led the national team to three draws in the first round of North American tournament and a narrow miss at qualifying for the round of 32.
Galenoi has been at the helm of Iran since 2023 and will now remain in his position through the Asian Cup, January 7–February 5.
“Mr. Galenoi will remain the national team’s coach. We have already received his plan for the AFC Asian Cup,” said Iranian Football Federation President Mehdi Taj, adding that: “The national team’s training camp for the next FIFA international window will begin soon. There are also several developments in the works for our national teams.”
This is Galenoi’s second stint as Iran’s head coach.
