Champion team upset by Tzoli’s assist and… Arsenal in control

The Greek winger set up the goal for Edegaard

Arsenal may have found themselves, from the very first seconds of the London derby against Chelsea, watching the “Blues” celebrate at “Emirates,” but their intensity on the field and well-rehearsed teamwork led the Champions to a dramatic comeback and a 2-1 victory.

Morgan Rogers, with a superb solo finish in the 2nd minute, put the score at 1-0 for Chabi Alonso’s team, which, however, faced several difficult moments on defense, and certain situations caused confusion for Martínez and the backline.

The first time Arsenal found the back of the net through Calafiori, VAR correctly ruled Consa offside following a prolonged play, but in the 25th minute, Havertz’s low left-footed finish beat Martínez with absolute certainty to make it 1-1.

The German forward would also prove decisive in the Champions’ second goal, although Chelsea could have gone into halftime with a new lead, had Pedro Neto’s shot not hit Raya’s right post.

In the 50th minute, then, Christos Tzolis, coming in from the left—in a situation that left James exhausted and under intense pressure as the Greek winger kept receiving the ball— he sent a low cross into the box, where Havertz cleverly let it run through to Edegard, who, unmarked, made it 2-1.

The efforts of Rodgers, João Pedro, and Cole Palmer bore no fruit for the “Blues,” who saw, in the closing moments, a solo effort by Estevão come within… half a goal, but Raya prevented it with a spectacular save.
