Apollon took further steps to strengthen its soccer department, announcing the start of its collaboration with Valantis Kapartis, who will take on the role of scout, joining the team’s competitive planning structure.
Kapartis’ addition is part of the “blue-and-whites’” effort to strengthen the player scouting and evaluation department, with the goal of improving planning and roster management in the coming years.
In detail: Apollon Football (Public) Ltd announces the start of its collaboration with Valantis Kapartis, who is joining our team’s soccer department as a scout.
Shortly after formalizing his partnership with Apollon, Valantis Kapartis gave his first interview to the official magazine APOLLON LIMASSOL, and we are publishing a short excerpt on apollon.com.cy, discussing the new challenge in his career, his role in the scouting department, and the philosophy that will guide the operation of this new venture.
Valantis, welcome to Apollon. What was your first thought when the offer came up?
It was something that made me particularly happy. I had already had discussions with the president and Mr. Makis Papaioannou, and since I was an active soccer player until recently, I had spent the last two years furthering my education in the field of scouting.
When I finished my studies, the offer came from Apollon, and I accepted it with great pleasure.
What made you decide to pursue this career path?
I’ve always enjoyed watching soccer matches and players, analyzing their characteristics, and evaluating their potential for development. It’s something that fulfills me, and I want to keep improving in this field.
How important is the combination of scouting with data and video analysis?
Data is a very important tool, as long as it’s used correctly. For me, the ideal is to combine it with the impression you have of the player. Data is important, but the human eye remains decisive.
What will your role be in the new department?
Working alongside Mario Antoniadis and technical director Makis Papaioannou, we’ll be monitoring and evaluating transfer targets, while also continuously monitoring the club’s loaned players and youth players.
What message would you like to send to the Apollon fans?
I want to thank the fans for their unwavering support of the team. For my part, I promise to give my best every day, with the goal of helping Apollon achieve its objectives.
You’ll find the rest of the interview in the next issue of our magazine.
We welcome Valantis Kapartis to the Apollon family and wish him every success in his new role.
