Panathinaikos got off to the best possible start in the Stoiximan Super League, defeating Levadiakos 0-2 in Boeotia in the second matchday. The “Greens,” whose season opener against Kifisia had been postponed, earned their first three points of the season, putting in a solid overall performance and showcasing their offensive strengths early on.
The “Clover” took the lead in the 3rd minute, when Ioannis Kostis inadvertently sent the ball into his own net following a corner kick by Vicente Taborda. Panathinaikos continued to control the game, moving the ball quickly and creating several beautiful combinations, making strong forays into the opponent’s box. The “Greens” displayed quality in their attacking play and, on several occasions, combined in ways that troubled Levadiakos’ defense, particularly in the first half.
Cyril Desers sealed the victory in the second half. The “clover” forward came off the bench and found the back of the net once again, making it 2-0 and reaffirming his effectiveness, once again off a set piece by Taborda. Seconds earlier, Levadiakos had been reduced to ten men after Panagiotis Symelidis was sent off, with the “Greens” managing to hold onto their lead until the final whistle.
Kings Kangwa also deserves a special mention, as he made his debut in a Panathinaikos jersey and showcased his quality early on. His good ball control, ease of movement, and involvement in playmaking left a positive impression. Imran Louza also made his debut as a “Green,” coming on as a substitute in the final minutes of the match.
Panathinaikos, thus, left Livadeia with a solid three points and plenty of positives to take away, getting off to an ideal start in this year’s league campaign.
