The NBA Board of Governors is meeting these days in New York, and its decisions will have a direct impact on European basketball.
The commissioner of the world’s top league addressed the much-anticipated partnership between the NBA and the EuroLeague, revealing that progress is being made in the discussions between the two sides!
As a reminder, the EuroLeague will meet in Como in early October to decide what stance it will take regarding the NBA’s plans. In other words, whether it will show a willingness to cooperate or even sell shares to the NBA, or whether it will continue with the current model.
Here is what he said in detail:
“This is a historic opportunity, and we need to take it to the next level. We’re making progress and holding discussions with the EuroLeague; we’ll have more announcements in the coming weeks.
Depending on where we stand with the EuroLeague, I believe it is important to introduce competition into the market starting next summer.”
