The Miami Heat’s acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo was the biggest move of the summer in the world’s top league, with the “Greek Freak” leaving Milwaukee and the Bucks after 14 years with the team.
The NBA star, speaking at his new team’s Media Day, set very high goals for both himself and the Heat. In fact, he appeared fully prepared for the demanding season ahead, noting that as long as he stays focused, he can dominate on both ends of the court.
At the same time, he made special mention of the champions, the New York Knicks, describing them as the best team and Jalen Brunson as one of the top players.
Here’s what he said in detail:
“I’m at my best when I’m focused; when my body is in good shape, then yes, I truly believe I can dominate on both ends of the court—offensively and defensively. I’ve proven this over the years; even last year, when I wasn’t at my best, I still managed to influence the game in some way.
It’s hard for people who don’t understand that, but when you’re among the top five, four, three, two, or ten, the best of them all is the one who helps his team go deep in the playoffs and win the championship. To me, that’s who he is. So right now, the best team is the Knicks, and Jalen Brunson is one of the top players.”
