The “Greek Freak” is turning a new page in his career, bidding farewell to Milwaukee and the Bucks, with Miami marking the next chapter in his professional journey.
Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke about his new beginning, emphasizing that he believes the Heat organization can help him bring out the best in himself, in an environment that places a strong emphasis on competition and the pursuit of victory.
Here is what Giannis Antetokounmpo said in detail:
“I feel like I’ve been in my comfort zone for many years and I just wanted a new challenge. I believe that, at this point in my career, Miami is the organization that will bring out the best in me. It’s an organization that thrives on competition. In every game, every minute.
The same goes for me. I’m the same person, so I hope that being here will allow me to compete, help my team win games, and reach our ultimate goal, which is winning the championship.
I love the culture here, and I want to be in a place where I can bring out the best in myself. I want to play as many games as possible and be there for my teammates as much as I can. I’ll be honest. Last year, when I was playing, I believe I performed at a very high level. In the first 15 games, I believed I could be among the contenders for the MVP award.
Sometimes, things don’t go the way you want them to, and in the end, the opposite happens. I know that when I’m healthy and have the right mindset, I’m a very tough opponent. I’m just trying to fit in with the team, and when I find the time to be myself, then I’ll be myself.”
