The Statement on the Incidents
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Nea Salamina unequivocally condemns the attack on five volunteers from the Association by a group of 40–50 hooded individuals, on Sunday evening (August 23) at the auxiliary field of “Ammochostos – Epistrofi.” The volunteers, who remained at the site after Fan Day to protect the equipment, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

At the same time, the Club expresses deep concern regarding the police’s response, as, according to residents’ accounts, they had been informed in advance of the presence of troublemakers in the area. Nea Salamina states that it will file an official complaint, submitting all available evidence, and calls for a thorough and objective investigation of the incident and the identification of those responsible.

The Board of Directors expresses its support for the injured and wishes them a speedy recovery, while emphasizing that violence and fanaticism have no place in soccer or society. The Club states that it will continue to defend its people, its safety, and its values by every legal means.

The full statement reads as follows:

“The Board of Directors of NEA SALAMINA AMMOCHOSTOS unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms condemns the cowardly attack carried out against five volunteers of our Club by a group of 40–50 hooded individuals late on the night of Sunday, August 23, at the auxiliary field of the “AMMOCHOSTOS – EPISTROFI” Stadium.

After yesterday’s Fan Day—an annual event organized by our Club for its fans— volunteers remained on the premises to safeguard the event’s equipment. While they were there, they were subjected to an unprovoked and organized attack, resulting in serious injuries that required them to be transported to the hospital.

At the same time, the police’s response, which, according to testimonies from local residents, had been informed of the presence of criminal elements in the vicinity of the “AMMOCHOSTOS – EPISTROFI” Stadium.

The Board of Directors expresses its unwavering solidarity and support for the injured volunteers and fans of our Club and wishes them a speedy and full recovery.

At the same time, our Club will file an official complaint regarding the incident with the police, submitting all available evidence and documentation. We demand a thorough, objective, and in-depth investigation of the incident, as well as the identification and prosecution of those responsible.

Violence, fanaticism, and the targeting of people who volunteer in sports have no place in soccer or in our society.

The Board of Directors will continue to defend, by every legal means, the people, the safety, and the values of our Club.”
