Dimitris Giannakopoulos responded via Instagram to comments made by Evan Fournier, who, in a recent interview, referred to the rivalry between Panathinaikos-Olympiacos rivalry and the owner of the “green” basketball club.
The powerful figure at Panathinaikos BC initially posted a screenshot from Game 3 of last year’s finals, where Fournier had made a gesture toward the T-Center crowd, recalling the incident that had sparked intense reactions at the time.
“Evan Fournier spoke about the rivalry and about Dimitris Giannakopoulos: ‘The rivalry is unbelievable. There’s a toxic atmosphere between the two teams. It’s amazing, honestly. It’s a shame for Greek basketball; it suffers because of this. The finals were incredible and turned into a legal battle.”
Hasn’t anyone told you who’s constantly going to court and filing complaints, and who’s actually playing on the courts? Find out first. “Pressure on the referees and homes are being vandalized.” Well, do a little research. Read up a bit; go online and see who’s vandalizing homes. “Basketball has turned into absolute chaos.” How could it not have turned into chaos when there are players who act like a**holes toward their own fans—how could there not be chaos? “I don’t know how it started.” How did it start? Go back and find out how it started! “They hate each other.” Do I hate them, man? I’m just laughing—I don’t hate anyone. “There’s a story I don’t know.” Well, find out the story first, and then come talk to me, man. Provocations, insults—that’s the bottom line. Provocations, insults—that’s the bottom line. Provocations, insults—that’s the essence of it. What can I say, you f***er? I don’t know.”
