Olympiacos left the Panthessaliko Stadium having dropped two points after drawing 1-1 with Volos in the third matchday of the Stoiximan Super League. However, the match result takes a back seat for the Piraeus-based team, which lost Ayoub El Kaabi to injury.
The Moroccan player, while contesting the ball with Mario Siabanis, suffered a tibia fracture and today (September 6) he will undergo surgery performed by the club’s head of medical services, Christos Theos.
The sight of Marios Siampanis moved everyone to tears, as the Greek goalkeeper was unable to hold back his tears over the incident. In fact, the Volos goalkeeper sent his own heartfelt message to the Moroccan top scorer in a social media post.
“I’m so sorry for what happened today, Ayoub. I didn’t mean to hit you. Seeing you in so much pain was heartbreaking. My thoughts were with you. I wish you strength, a full recovery, and a return to the field as soon as you’re ready.”
