Despite the Belgian national team’s strong performance at this year’s World Cup, Rudi Garcia is expected to be out.

The Belgian soccer federation, despite the national team’s run to the the quarterfinals of the tournament, decided that the Frenchman does not fit into their plans for the future, and thus the decision was made to part ways with him.

Thus, barring any dramatic surprises, Mark van Bommel will be Belgium’s new head coach, as the team now turns its attention to its Nations League matches in September.

As a reminder, Belgium was eliminated from the World Cup semifinals by Spain with a score of 2-1.
