APOEL has set its sights on Álvaro Carrillo, as the “blue-and-yellows” are considering the 24-year-old Spaniard to bolster their defense.
The need for reinforcements in the center of the defense became even more pressing after the league opener and the 3-1 loss to AEK. Problems in aerial duels and defensive errors highlighted the need for more quality and stability.
Carillo is a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, which he joined in 2015. He rose through the ranks to Real Madrid Castilla, making 77 appearances and wearing the captain’s armband. In January 2024, he made his debut with the “Queen’s” first team in the Cup against Arandina, under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.
He subsequently played for Eibar and Huesca, making 21 and 35 appearances, respectively. He is capable of playing both center back and right back, and is currently a free agent.
