“I’m ending my career. I’m becoming an assistant coach at Red Star. Due to my personal circumstances, I want to be close to Belgrade. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this crazy journey,” said Kalinić, who was not in Ibon Navarro’s plans for Belgrade’s “Red-and-Whites,” while reports had surfaced in recent days suggesting that Vojvodina was interested in adding him to its roster.
However, he decided to hang up his basketball shoes, bringing an end to a “rich” career during which he also played for Spartak Subotica, Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Radnički, Fenerbahçe, Valencia, Barcelona, and the Serbian national team!
He was crowned European champion with Fenerbahçe in 2017, with whom he also won three Turkish league titles, three Cups, and one Super Cup, and he also won a league title with Barcelona. He celebrated titles with Red Star in the ABA League, the Serbian League, and the Serbian Cup, while with his national team he won two silver medals at the World Cup and the Olympic Games!
