Here’s what they said in detail:
Giorgos Kostis
“I’m pleased with the team. We showed character. I want to congratulate them because they had the mental strength to turn the game around. The guys refuse to lose and show resilience. We need to build on this, but it’s disappointing that we can’t hold onto our lead. We lost the one-on-one battles and the individual duels. We need to improve our defense to get a positive result against Omonia Aradippou. We dominated today. We’re not satisfied with the result. Nor were we with the draw in the season opener.”
On Sapinen: “It appears to be a fairly serious ankle injury. Prokop suffered a recurrence, so we took him out to protect him—it’s nothing serious.”
Fanzio Buijs
“We’re disappointed with the result; I think we controlled the first half 100 percent. We conceded a goal in stoppage time out of nowhere, and that bothered us a bit. We came out strong in the second half but struggled until the 60th minute; Olympiacos was the better team then, but we showed grit again, turned the game around—unfortunately, we couldn’t pull it off in the end. I feel again that we dropped two points, just like last week. We showed who we are, that we have character, that we want this, and that we’ll be here until the end. If someone had told us three games ago that we’d get 5 points, we wouldn’t have said no, but the way things turned out, it’s not enough.”
