OFI coach Christos Kontis made some revealing comments in an interview he gave to Sport24.gr.
The Greek coach emphasized that the Cretans had made an effort to sign Tasos Bakasetas, but it wasn’t possible, with the captain of the Greek national team ultimately joining APOEL.
Here’s what he said about Bakasetas in detail
“Who wouldn’t want Tasos Bakasetas on their team? I had him on the Panathinaikos roster twice; I saw his leadership qualities, his personality, and just how good a player he is. He’s the captain of the national team—experienced, talented, and at an age where he can play at a very high level—and obviously, if I had that opportunity, I wouldn’t think twice about it. “We tried, but it wasn’t possible.”
