Aris announced the hiring of Avram Grant as an advisor to the club’s management.
The 71-year-old Israeli has extensive experience, having worked at major clubs both as a coach and in other roles, including administrative positions. His name came up during a discussion between Theodoros Karipidis and Ruben Reyes.
Grant worked at Chelsea first as director of football and later as head coach. He took over as manager of the London “Blues” in September 2007, succeeding José Mourinho, and led the team to its first Champions League final in 2008, losing the trophy on penalty kicks to Manchester United before leaving at the end of the season.
He also worked at Portsmouth, West Ham, and Partizan before becoming the head coach of the Ghana national team for three years. In between (2018), he coached North East United in India, and in 2022 he took over as head coach of the Zambian national team, a position he left in October 2025 after failing to qualify for the World Cup finals.
Before 2006, when he went to Portsmouth, he worked in his home country, Israel, at Hapoel Petah Tikva, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Hapoel Haifa, while from 2002 to 2006, he worked with the Israeli national team.
The announcement:
It is with great pleasure that we announce our agreement with Avram Grant as the new Management Advisor for ARIS FC.
With extensive experience at top European clubs and national teams, Mr. Grant will strengthen our club, support our long-term strategic goals, and contribute to the improvement of our team both on and off the field.
