Aris: Grigoriou’s clear message to the players regarding a spot in the starting lineup

He raises the bar in training
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Michalis Grigoriou is taking advantage of the break to work intensively with the Aris players, while also facing the difficult task of managing a 32-player roster. The Greek coach is seeking the best possible balance on the field, both in terms of the starting lineup and the team’s overall performance.

The message to the players is clear: a spot on the team must be earned every day through training. Grigoriou has demanded greater effort from everyone and expects to see during the break who can meet his expectations. Those who fail to meet the coaching staff’s expectations will inevitably lose ground in the internal hierarchy.

Managing such a large roster presents an additional challenge. So far, 26 different players have seen playing time, and Aris has not fielded the same starting lineup twice, a sign that the process of finding the right core group is still underway.

Much of the focus in recent training sessions has been on offensive play, particularly effectiveness in the final third. The “Yellows” are working on teamwork, attacks from the wings, crosses, and finishing, while also conducting one-on-one, two-on-one, and three-on-two drills, with clear instructions to conclude each play with a final shot on goal.

Lauren Moron and Tino Kantevere were absent from the session as they are suffering from a viral infection. The two forwards are expected to return to training as soon as they have fully recovered and will once again be available to Michalis Grigoriou.
