Tottenham failed to find the back of the net for the fourth consecutive match, drawing 0-0 with Everton in London. Roberto De Gerbi’s team controlled possession and had its chances, but failed to break through the visitors’ well-organized defense, with Jordan Pickford making crucial saves in the second half.
On the other hand, Everton came away with a valuable point from the “Spurs”’ home ground and continued its unbeaten run through the first four Premier League matchdays. The Merseyside team now has one win and three draws, remaining undefeated at the start of the season.
The game had a good pace but few truly big chances. Tottenham tried to take control from the opening minutes, with Jan-Paul van Hecke missing a big chance in the 5th minute when he sent the ball just over the crossbar. Everton responded with their own attempts, but failed to consistently threaten Antonin Kinski’s goal.
In the second half, the home team stepped up the pressure and came closer to scoring. Mateus Fernandes forced Pickford into a fine save in the 47th minute, while in the 66th minute Kieran Dousbury-Hall forced Kinski to make a save for Everton. The biggest moment, however, came in the 89th minute, when Lucas Bergvall unleashed a powerful shot toward the lower right corner, with Pickford making a spectacular save to keep the score at 0-0.
In the final minutes, Tottenham pressed for the winning goal, but Everton held on and earned a point. Thus, the home team continues to search for its first goal and its first win after four matches (2 points), while the visitors remain undefeated, having earned 6 points with one win and three draws.
