Barcelona has rewarded Xavi Espert for his performances during his first season with the first team.
The Spanish champions announced the extension of their contract with the 19-year-old Spanish left back through 2030.
Here is Barcelona’s announcement in full:
“An agreement has been reached to extend the contract between Barcelona and Xavi Espert, who will remain with the club until June 30, 2030. The club and the player will officially sign the contract at the team’s offices, in the presence of Barcelona president Joan Laporta, in the coming days.
Xavi Espert arrived at La Masia in the summer of 2015 and made his first-team debut in March 2026, under coach Hansi Flick, at “St. James Park” during the first match of the Champions League Round of 16 between Newcastle and the “Blaugrana.”
He made a total of 6 appearances during the 2025–26 season before joining the first-team roster at the start of the 2026–27 season. His inclusion as a full member of the first team was made official on August 27, and so far, he has made 5 appearances this season, scoring his first goal for the club and providing 2 assists.
So far in his career, he has won the LaLiga title for the 2025–26 season.”
