The venue for the 2030 World Cup final remains an open question, with Camp Nou, the “Santiago Bernabéu,” and a stadium in Morocco at the center of the discussion.
On Barcelona’s part, however, there is optimism that the tournament’s final could be held in Barcelona. The club’s vice president for social affairs, Antonio Escudero, spoke with particular confidence about the possibility, emphasizing that the new Camp Nou meets the requirements.
“We would really like that. I think it’s very likely. Sports authorities around the world are in agreement. We’ve put in a lot of effort and we have a great stadium. It’s time to make it happen,” he said in remarks to Cadena SER.
In fact, Escudero raised the bar even higher, arguing that “there’s a very good chance” the World Cup final will be hosted at Camp Nou.
He also discussed the progress of the construction work, expressing hope that the stadium will be ready within the projected timeline. He revealed, however, that he had a different opinion regarding the choice of the team’s temporary home at Montjuïc, as he believed that staying there would be preferable.
