The amounts involved in Thomas Walkup’s transfer from Olympiacos to Dubai BC are substantial, but not as large as reported in the Greek media, according to Basketnews.
According to sources in Greece, the deal was finalized at 2.3 million euros for Olympiacos, while the player will receive a gross annual salary of 3 million euros under a three-year contract.
Basketnews, citing its own sources close to the United Arab Emirates team, claims that the amounts were lower. “The buyout fee for Olympiacos was approximately 1.55 million euros, and half of that was covered by the player himself, who will earn a gross annual salary of approximately 2.15 million euros,” the report states.
