At the press conference ahead of the rematch against Sint-Truiden, Omonia’s coach, Henning Berg was asked about the case of Senou Coulibaly and explained the situation.
Specifically, he stated that it is normal for offers to come in, but it is strange for them to come from a team (Rodina) owned by the owner of Paphos (see Lomakin).
At the same time, he emphasized that the team’s goal is to keep the player, but sometimes even your top players end up leaving.
Here is his statement in full: “He trains every day, he’s available, and it’s still normal for offers to come in. The owner of Paphos, along with Rodina, made an offer, and that’s a bit strange. He’s a player who still has two years left on his contract and was one of our top performers last year. It makes sense that there’s interest. We want him to stay, but sometimes even the best players end up leaving. We saw what happened with Maé last year, for example. But the situation is different now, since the transfer window closes in a few days, and we certainly don’t want to weaken the team. For transfers like this, all parties must agree. I can’t know what will happen in the end. We want him to stay with the team.”
