Coach Henning spoke about Omonia’s performance in their friendly win against Dinamo Bucharest, coach Henning Berg spoke about the team’s performance, the other two friendly matches, the signings, and the “clover’s” preseason preparations.
Here’s what he said in detail:
On the friendly: “It was a good first friendly. It was a bit more intense than our training sessions. We saw some positive things, and of course we can improve. We showed character; we didn’t let them score in the first half. The result isn’t important, but it’s always good to win. In the second half, we scored again; we had some good moves, especially down the left. They scored too, but we fielded a young lineup in the second half. It was a very important friendly match.”
On the young players: “They train with us, but they won’t get too many opportunities. It’s very important for them to gauge their level and play against good players at a high level. They did well, and it was nice to see that they wanted to and were able to play at this level.”
On how he’ll manage the other two friendlies: “The players who played in the first half today will likely get a little more playing time. The first official games are coming up soon, and we need to give more playing time to the players we believe we need.”
On the new players and transfers: “Ryan has left, so we need to strengthen the squad. We saw Jaden score; he also made some very good moves. It will take him some time to adjust. We’re looking to find someone better suited to the Cypriot level. It’s not easy. Ryan had an outstanding season because he had outstanding teammates. Last year was a special season. Unfortunately, he won’t be here this year, so we’ll have to deal with that. We’ll try to add quality. Our ambitions are high, and we aim to achieve all our goals. We already have very good players, and if we can add more, that will be a good thing.”
On whether he’s satisfied with the preseason: “We’re still at the beginning; the hard part is just starting. The next ten days will be the toughest and most challenging. That’s normal. We’re looking forward to continuing our work, improving, and making sure the players are ready for the first game.”
