Juventus got off to a strong start to the new season, coming away with a victory at Frosinone’s home stadium, in a game where the 1-0 final score doesn’t fully reflect the chances created by both teams.
The only goal of the match came in the 22nd minute. Following a corner kick and a cross by Francisco Conceição, Gleison Bremer made a good run into the box and headed the ball into the net from close range to make it 0-1.
Juventus had previously missed two good chances, through Bremer and Randal Kolo Muani, and continued to threaten after the goal. Pierre Kalulu hit the crossbar with a powerful shot, while Kenan Yildiz was unable to beat the opposing goalkeeper on the rebound.
The home team, however, did not give up and created their own dangerous chances. Giacomo Calo forced Guillermo Vicario into a difficult save, while Giorgi Kverkelia missed on the rebound.
In the second half, Juventus again had chances to “seal” the match, but failed to score a second goal. Kolo Muani and Conceição squandered key chances, with Frosinone staying in the game until the final whistle.
In fact, in stoppage time, the home team came very close to equalizing. Gabriele Calvani got his head to the ball off a corner kick, but the ball hit the crossbar, allowing Juventus to avoid the equalizer and hold on to the precious 1-0 lead until the end.
Thus, Luciano Spalletti’s team celebrated its first three points in this year’s Serie A, getting the new season off to the best possible start. In the other match that took place at the same time, Lecce won 2-0 on the road against Venezia and also kicked off the league season with three points.
