The second “round” of the Bundesliga features two tough away matches for the league’s top contenders, with Dortmund and Bayern called upon to confirm their lofty ambitions early on.
Dortmund travels to Hoffenheim, in a match that holds potential pitfalls for the Westphalians. Christian Ilzer’s team is one of those that can give the “big teams” a hard time —especially at home—and Kovac’s team will need to put in the same strong performance they showed in the season opener.
Konstantinos Karetsas is also in high spirits; he played a starring role in the season opener, dishing out assists and earning the title of the match’s most valuable player. On the other hand, Dortmund will be without Giannis Konstantelia, who suffered a torn ACL against Hamburg.
In the other big game of the matchday, Bayern Munich travels to Gelsenkirchen to face Schalke. The defending champions got off to an impressive start to the season, crushing Stuttgart 5-1, and are looking to build on their winning start.
The difference in strength is clear, but Schalke’s home field, combined with the energy the home team is expected to bring in their first home game since their promotion, makes Bayern’s task anything but easy.
